Introduction

The link element is used in all components that allow editable links. Its main purpose is, besides setting a link target, the ability to define a link type and style.

The element is available in the following components:

CMS - general settings

tab: Links

Input fields available for all Link types

CMS - link types settings

type: Internal

Internal links are used to link to an internal content page, that lies somewhere in the GEM content tree under the /sites node.

Editorial hint:

Deep link to a section or anchor on another page

It is also possible to link to a set anchor or section of a page directly. To do so:

  1. create an link with type internal
  2. choose the desired Link path
  3. add a hash, followed by the ID of the section or anchor manually to the link path manually, e.g. .../Privatkunden#konto

type: Scroll to anchor

Anchor links are used to link to previously defined sections on the very same page. So they allow a portal visitor to navigate within one page to a certain set section/anchor. Sections are defined with the Section with headline component, field Section ID.
Anchor

Dropdown that offers all configured sections of a page as a link target. These sections are created with the Section with headline component and are automatically added to the dropdown, if they have a valid Section ID.

Please note that sections therefore have to be configured prior to the creation of a Scroll to anchor link.

Example of a Scroll to anchor link:

Try me

type: External

External links are used to link to an external domain.

type: Download

Download links are used to offer documents for download to the customer. Usually used for .pdf or image files. Please note that if the download should be triggered in a separate dialogue, the Link Target needs to be set to Download.
Link path

Defines the internal path of the downloadable file in the DAM, that can be chosen from the Select path dialogue:
Link target = download

Defines that a click on the link triggers a direct download of the file, via the download dialogue of the browser.

Example of a download link with target = download:

Try me

type: Email

The Email link allows the creation of a link to a modal contact form, in which the To email address is replaced with the stated address of the component. This feature is used to have a contact form sent to a specific addressee, such as an employee. It means that this contact form only needs to be created once, and can be re-used for every Email link.

Step by step

  1. Create a common contact form using a Modal Content Page template.
  2. Fill in the To email address field with a default recipient address, such as the servicecenter.

An example for a contact form can be found here.
  3. Create an Email link wherever available.
  4. Fill in the Email address field in the component.

type: URL with query string

The URL with query string link type allows the creation of internal links, followed by a query string, e.g.:

Link path /content/sites/at/spk-sgruppe/www_sparkasse_at/de/netbanking
Query string
 teststring-XYZ
Actual link
 https://www.sparkasse.at/sgruppe/netbanking?teststring-XYZ
