Snippet References component

re-use & embed referenced components on mulitple pages

  • reference content from a unique Snippet Content template
  • reference content from any content page

The Snippet Reference feature offers the possibilty to re-use content that is created on a designated page on multiple other pages. This way, the content snippet must only be maintained once, but its changes are reflected wherever it is embedded.

In the Snippet Reference component, only the path to the content snippet can be defined. It is available on a Standard Content Page template. Please note that it is possible to either reference to an entire page or to one component (including subcomponents).

Attention:

Be aware that if a Snippet Reference component references to a component of a Standard Content page (instead of Snippet Content page), the source path does not get updated if the referenced component gets moved inside a container component (such as Section With Headline) or if the entire page gets moved (renamed or moved to another path. This results in a broken display in the front-end. Therefore, we recommend the use of the Snippet Content page as a snippet source.

Snippet Content template

The Snippet Content template is a dedicated template to produce snippets. It can be used to produce single or multiple components on one page. It derives from the Standard Content Page template and therefore offers the identical selection of components.

We highly recommend to solely use the Snippet Content template as snippet source (instead of a Standard Content template) because it is possible to order them in a structured way under /configuration and you are always aware of the usage of a snippet. If you reference to any component on a Standard Conent template, it is possible that such a component gets deleted or edited and this of course affects the used component in the Snippet Reference component as well.

Please see the Snippet Content template help pages for more information.
