Blueprint / Live Copy inheritance
create a Blueprint site with derived Live Copy sites
- Use Blueprint content as source that automatically updates Live Copy content
- Rollout of Blueprint content
- MSM - Multi Site Manager to overview Live Copy Status

The Blueprint inheritance feature (MSM - Multi Site Management) enables you to easily manage multiple web sites that share common content. MSM lets you define relations between the sites so that content changes in one site are automatically replicated in other sites. In GEM it is mainly used by Sparkasse AT to serve all Sparkasse institute sites. Live Copies can be created from entire sites or single pages.
Introduction
The Blueprint inheritance (MSM - Multi Site Management) is a key feature for Sparkasse AT to deliver shared content from the Blueprint site (source of content - sGruppe 0009) to all its derived Live Copy sites (recipient of content - all other SPK AT institutes). Content is centrally created and hosted by the sGruppe editors and then pushed / rolled-out to all Live Copy sites. So every content change in the Blueprint is also reflected in a Live Copy.
In a Live Copy, it is possible to create local content or to change the inherited content by cancelling the inheritance. This content then no longer receives updates from its Blueprint.
The MSM - Multi Site Manager allows the sGruppe editors to easily overview and manage all Live Copies. Sparkasse AT editors can watch the Live Copy status of a page directly in the Siteadmin console.

Attention:
As a consequence of cancelling the inheritance of an entire component, no more content from the Blueprint will be received. This also applies to all its sub-components. So if e.g. a Section With Headline component is localized entirely, the inheritance for all the components within the Section With Headline also gets cancelled. Therefore it is not recommended to cancel the inheritance of entire container components, but instead, only cancel the single component elements.
Attention:
Reverting the inheritance deletes all local changes of a component.
In the Content Editor, every component is marked with the lock symbol that indicates whether a component is subject to a stable inheritance or if the inheritance was cancelled.
The lock is always visible on Container Components (top right in the gray bar) and becomes visible on all other components upon marking it. It is also possible to visualize the status for all components at once.
A red frame indicates a cancelled inheritance, a green frame a stable inheritance.
To mark the status of all components, activate the button Live Copy Status in the bottom toolbar in the Sidekick.
Non-Blueprint editors cannot access the MSM in order to view the Live Copy status of their inherited content. Instead, it is possible to have the status displayed in the Siteadmin table.
Please see the Live Copy status legend for the explanation of each status icon.
To add the column, open the columns dialogue and activate Live Copy.
