Tagging

create and use tags to categorize your content

  • create tags
  • tag your content

The Tagging console is a tool that lets you create tags, that you can later add to your pages or DAM items.

on this page:

Introduction

Tags are generally helpful to categorize your content. These categories can later be used to filter for certain content within components.

First you create the tags in the Tagging console and afterwards you can tag a page or any image, video, document or other items you upload to the DAM.
The Tagging console works similar to the Website console, in that it has a tree structur that is ideally similar or identical to the Website tree structure.

Glossary:

Attention:

Please note that you should create tags carefully and never delete them lightheartedly, as this can lead to major problems with your pages. Use this tool with responsibility, by thinking about the structure you want beforehand, to avoid any unnecessary actions.

Additionally you should not create seperate tags for each language node of your domain. There is a translation option that takes care of this.

Display / User Interface

The Tagging interface looks almost identical to the Website interface. You have the content tree on the left, to navigate to where you want to create your pages and on the right you can see the tags of the current node you are on, as well as their activation status and further details.

Just like in the Website interface you have buttons to create new tags, delete, edit and move existing tags. Addtionally you can list and merge, active and deactivate tags, count their usage or just ask for help.

Tagging Content

Once you have created you tags, you can start tagging your pages and DAM items.

Tagging Pages

To tag your pages, you need to open the Page Properties of a selected page. You can do this in 2 ways:

In the Website console

Right-click on a page you want to tag and select the Properties in the menu.

In the Author

In the Author, go to the second tab (= Page tab) in the Sidekick and click on Page Properties.

Once you have opened the Page Properties, there will be a Tag element available to add and remove tags in the Basic tab.

Tagging DAM Items

To tag your DAM items, you need to open the DAM console and navigate to the item you want to tag.

Double-click on the item that you want to tag, and it will open in a new DAM-tab. There will be a Tag element available to add and remove tags

Components using tags

Now that you have created your tags and tagged your content accordingly, you can start using components, that use a Tag element to filter content.
