The purpose of the News Detail Page is to create the News article or content itself. As the set-up is very individual (all common components are available), there is no right or wrong display. For consistency reasons, the News Archive Teaser and a Go Back component are added to the page per default on top of the page.

In the Archive Teaser, the multiple language versions are accessible through the language links (e.g. DE / EN). This enables the display of the articles in all languages on one page, without switching to a different page. A click on the Teaser leads to the respective language version.

The name of the page is reflected in the URL: domain/path/date-structure/News-Content-Page-name, e.g. https://www.erstegroup.com/en/news-media/press-releases/2017/02/10/savings-credit-forecast-Q4. In order to create beautiful URLs, it is highly recommended to give a meaningful name, especiall when considering, that the News Detail Pages also show up in search engine results pages.

The News Content Page template is only available as child of the News Day Entry Page. Upon opening a newly created page, the News Archive Teaser and the Go Back component are already added to the main content. Both components can be moved or deleted if not used in your News set-up. It is highly recommended though to leave both components as they are because they provide a better user experience by already displaying the date and category of an article and offer a

Besides the two pre-set components, all components from the Standard Content Page template are available in the Sidekick in order to create the News article.

News Archive Teaser component

The News Archive Teaser component can't be edited in the content. It is set up and editable in the Teaser Configuration and only a copy of the Teaser is displayed in the main content.

When first creating a News Detail Page, the component is already added to the main content. If not needed, it can be removed.

Attention:

Be aware that if the News Archive Teaser component is deleted in the main content, it cannot be added by an editor anymore. If a Teaser gets accidently deleted, contact the Helpdesk or simply re-create the entire page.

Go Back component

The Go Back component is automatically added as second component from the top to every page. If it is not needed, it can be deleted. 

The Button Label is already populated with the text "Go back" and of course can be changed.

Editorial hint:

Button Path definition

The Go Back link behaves as follows: if the Button Path is left empty, it simply links to the previously opened page (browser back), but it is also possible to define a specific path. Because it is not known from where a portal visitor opens the page from (News Detail Pages are also indexed by search engines such as Google and therefore listed in the search results), it is recommended to define a specific path to the News Archive page. This way, a portal visitor remains on the site and does not get linked back to the search engine.

The Archive Teaser consists of the following elements:

1. Date: the calendar icon is automatically added and is made up of the date path created with the News Redirect Date Pages
2. Category Tag: the categories are automatically added and depend on the Tag added to the News Day Entry Page
3. Title: defined in the Teaser Configuration
4. Language versions: the language links are automatically added and derive from the News Content Pages added in multiple languages.
5. Download image: defined in the Teaser Configuration

Attention:

Be aware that it is essential that the Archive Teaser is created. If not done so, the News article is not displayed in the News Archive.

The News Timeline Teaser is a multifunctional component that contains manually set-up and automatically generated content parts. Like the News Archive Teaser, it is accessible via the Teaser Configuration link on top of the content page.

The Timeline Teaser consists of the following elements:

1. Category Tag: the categories are automatically added and depend on the Tag added to the News Day Entry Page
2. Title: defined in the Teaser Configuration
3. Read more: defined in the Teaser Configuration
4. Date: the date is automatically added and is made up of the date path created with the News Redirect Date Pages
   

In every Archive Teaser, the date is automatically added and the month is abbreviated with 3 letters, e.g. DEC.

In order to display the correct language of the date in the calendar displayed in the News Archive Teaser, the language must be set in the Page Properties of each News Content Page.

Multilingual Archive set-up

The News feature provides the possibility to create News articles (News Content Pages) in multiple languages. For every language simply add a an additional translated version of the News Content Page under the same News Day Entry Page and set the language appropriately in its Page Properties.

In the Archive Teaser, the available language versions are displayed and the language can be changed by clicking on the respective language link, e.g. EN / DE.
