Introduction

The Help Center component is part of the FAQ area / Help Center feature and its main purpose is to offer answers or further documentation and links to a portal visitor. It can be used on multiple pages with adapted content, but then always offers a link to the page with the Help Center List component that serves as a Questions & Answers archive. It is usually placed on the bottom of a content page, just above the Footer.

Therefore, before setting up a Help Center component, please configure all necessary Question & Answer page templates and the Help Center List component.

Please refer to the FAQ area aka Help Center help pages for more information.

Structure & behaviour

Structure:

The component has a fixed layout with a dark blue background color. With the Contacts checkbox, it is possible to add a Site Contact to become a part of the component.

It is also possible to not define one of the columns (e.g. no links defined). The remaining column would then be displayed centered.

Behaviour:

When clicking on a listed question, a modal overlay opens, displaying the content of the respective question, created in a Question & Answer page.

In the modal overlay and below the list of questions, the All Questions link to the Help Center List component, that serves as the FAQ archive, is displayed. The text for this link can either be defined here or, if left empty, it derives from the Help Center List component.

Component settings

In the Help Center component edit dialogue, all settings for the Help Center display can be configured. For a working Help Center, the Help Center List component and, if applicable, the Contact Configuration have to be set up beforehand.

tab: General

In the tab General, besides some labels, the option to display the Site Contact and the enabling of the Deeplinking can be configured.

tab: Questions

In the Questions tab, it is defined which and how many questions shall be displayed in the questions column.

tab: Links

In the Links tab, the links are defined that are displayed in the links tab. It is possible to add link paths to pages or documents.

tab: Spacing

Common Spacing element to define the spaces/paddings on the top and on the bottom of the component. For some components the Grid Position can also be set. Mandatory.

Site Contact

Below the Help Center, it is possible to add a Site Contact, which can be defined in the Contact Configuration page.

The ordinary usage of displaying the Contact Configuration on a content page would be to add a Site Contact component. But for the Site Contact to be a part of the Help Center component, a different set-up is used.

Contact Us configuration

Open the Header Navigation Configuration page that is used as header on the specific page and add the path to the Contact Configuration in the tab Site Top Bar. The Contact Configuration is then automatically added below the Help Center component (if the Contacts checkbox is set).

For setting up the Contact Configuration itself, please refer to the Contact Configuraton help pages for more information.

Editorial hint:

Naming of Contact Configuration

Make sure that the Contact Configuration is literally named "contact-configuration" as otherwise it does not get recognized by the Help Center component.

Display of Contact us in the header

Please note that it is not necessary to also have the Contact Configuration displayed in the Site Top Bar if not wanted. Simply define only the Configuration path and do not fill in the Headline.

Help Center List path

For a Help Center component to know where its assigned page with the Help Center List component lies, it is necessary to set a path to this page in the page properties.

Editorial hint:

Help Center List path inheritance

If only one page with the Help Center List component is used in one area or segment (e.g. private customers), it is not necessary to define the path on every page a Help Center component is used. Simply define it on the top level node (e.g. private customers) and the path gets inherited to all its child pages, if left empty on the child page.

Page properties

In the Page Properties of each page where a Help Center component is added, the Help Center List Path needs to be defined. Only with this configuration it is granted that the All Questions link leads to the correct Help Center List component, if multiple Help Center Lists are available.

  1. Open the Page Properties via a right-click on the page in the Siteadmin or via the link in the Sidekick's Page tab in Edit Mode.
  2. In the tab Advanced, untoggle the element Help Center
  3. Define the path to the respective page with the Help Center List component via the Path Selection icon.

Attention:

Help Center List path fall back

It is very important that every Help Center is tied to a Help Center List. Therefore, we strongly recommend to also define the Help Center List path in the Page Properties of the Language Node.
