FAQ area aka Help Center

use Question & Answer pages to create a FAQ section

  • Help Center component to tease the FAQ section
  • Help Center List component to create the FAQ section with multiple categories based on tags
  • designated Q&A page templates to create questions with answers

The purpose of the Help Center feature is to create a FAQ section with multiple categories. Based on the website visitors needs, the FAQs can be filtered by category tags and searched through via a full text search. All Q&As are indexed by search engines and can be found in the websearch results pages of e.g. Google.

To set up the entire feature, tags for each FAQ category, multiple Question and Answer page templates, Help Center component on multiple overview pages, a Help Center List component on the actual FAQ archive page and an optional Site Contact configuration need to be set up.

Introduction

This Help Center feature help page serves as an overview page to combine all necessary steps that need to be taken in order to get a fully functional FAQ section. Althought it might be a little complicated to set up the full feature, it is definitely worth the effort as the website visitor can benefit a great deal from it.

Before you start, please make sure that you have understood the concept of Tagging and know about the different parts of the FAQ section as described in the glossary.

Question and Answer page template

This designated template is used to create the actual questions with their respective answers. It can only be created as child of a Standard Content Page. It consists of a unique Question component, that acutally creates the question, and all other standard components to design the answer.

This means that for every question in the FAQs, a seperate template must be created. In order for a question to be assigned to a category, every Question and Answer page must be tagged with one or more Help Center tags.

The questions and answers are used in both components, with a different display/ opening behaviour: In the Help Center, the answers open in a Modal page and contain the All Questions link.

In the Help Center List, the answers open as a toggled content.

Help Center component

The Help Center component can be added to any Standard Content Page. It can contain a list of downloadable assets or links on the left side, a short Questions & Answers section on the right side and a Site Contact on the bottom.

A click on a question opens the Q&A page as a Modal. Below the questions, a link (show all questions) to the Help Center List is displayed.

See the Help Center component help page for more information.

Help Center List component

The Help Center List is the actual archive of all Question & Answer pages created.

The main tags are displayed on the left side and they serve as a click-through menu to get to the desired sub-tag.

On the left side, the main categories (tags) are initially loaded.

A click on a main category (here: blue) opens the respective sub-categories (here: cobalt-blue). The questions displayed on the right side remain unchanged.

Only when the last sub-category is reached, the questions to this respective category are displayed.

See the Help Center List component help page for more information.

Site Contact

Below the Help Center comonent, the Site Contact component can be attached in order to offer various contact options to the website visitor.

To display the Site Contact, the checkbox Contacts must be checked.

Please see the Help Center component help page and the Contact Configruation template help page for more information.
