on this page:

Introduction

The solely usage of a Question & Answer Page is to set up the questions (and answers) that are listed in the Help Center and Help Center List components. For each question (and answer) a separate page must be created. The template consists of one unique component: Question. To create the respective answer, a selection of components from GEM Common is available.

The pages shall only be created as child nodes of the page that contains the Help Center List component.

Please see the FAQ / Help Center feature help pages for more information.

Help Center List component

In the Help Center List component, the selected questions are also displayed in a list.

A click on a question opens the defined answer as a toggled content.

Stand alone page

The Question & Answer page can also be called up on its own, as an independent page, if for example a portal visitor finds the question listed in a search engine results page.

Template characteristics

The Question & Answer Page template derives directly from the Standard Content Page template, only with a limited number of available components, due to the different main content width display.

The set-up of the page is as follows:

Go Back component

The Go Back component is automatically added as first component from the top to every page. If it is not needed, it can be deleted.

Editorial hint:

Button Path definition

The Go Back link behaves as follows: if the Button Path is left empty, it simply links to the previously opened page (browser back), but it is also possible to define a specific path. Because it is not known from where a portal visitor opens the page from (Question & Answer pages are also indexed by search engines such as Google and therefore listed in the search results), it is recommended to define a specific path to the Help Center List component. This way, a portal visitor remains on the site and does not get linked back to the search engine.

For more information please see the Go Back component help page.

Question component

The Question component is a unique Question & Answer page component. Its purpose is to create the question and to serve as a container for the Answer components.

Please refer to the Question component for more information.

Tags set-up

Every Question & Answer page should be tagged with one or more tags in order to assign the page to different categories which enables the search functionality in the Help Center List component. Tags can be added in the Page Properties of a page, accessible in the Siteadmin on a right-click on a page or in the Editor Mode in the Sidekick, tab Page.

It is recommended to tag each page with multiple tags from the same tag path (e.g. account -> giro -> payments -> conditions). By doing so, it is possible to also use the Featured Tag function that displayes a defined selection of questions in the list (e.g. payments) on first calling up the page that contains the Help Center List.

Please see the Help Center List help page for more detailed information about how to set up the tags and the Tagging help pages about tags in general.
